I'm Michelle Cox -- the owner of Lipstick to Crayons. I’m also a Mom to three kids (a teen, tween and toddler), a professional writer (www.michellemcox.com) and a blogger (www.fromthemom.com). And I love to save money (and help you do the same) via frugal deals and steals, coupons and other thrifty practices. My freelance writing business allows me to enjoy the great balance of being a stay-at-home/work-at-home mom, while also making time for blogging, running (ran the Chicago Marathon twice) some amateur photography and scrapbooking. I’m a St. Louis native, although I have lived outside of the city and the state. A few of my passions are amateur photography, scrapbooking and attending kids' sporting events.

Nico & Zoe Toys

Are you tired of plastic and cheaply made toys that our kids tire of faster than the time it took to unleash it from it’s packaging? Those twist ties can certainly drive a mommy batty! It seems quality made toys are hard to find nowadays so we were excited when we came across Nico & Zoe Toys- Uncommon & Artisan Made Toys for age Birth to 5. They specialize in uncommon, handmade & wood toys from family owned toy companies & US artisans. Modern & unique toys for the urban kid.

Nico & Zoe is owned by two very savvy moms, Pamela and Stacy. They have quite a bit of retail and internet experience between them and Pamela designs many of their toys. They are dedicated to offering high quality, small production toys, all at one location.

We browsed their site and have picked our favorite things. Their plush dolls are absolutely darling. What little girl could resist Lauren The Sock Monkey or Ella The Sock Bunny ?

Sweetie Pie’s Sugar Cookies would make a great gift and is reasonably priced. Each cookie is hand sewn with felt and beads and just a touch of polyester fill inside to make ‘em squishy.

We also love the Mailbox Playset. Not only is it a great toy to encourage pretend play but it also is a great idea for a shape sorting activity to encourage motor skills.

Overall they offer a large selection of quality made toys at a reasonable price and their site is easy to navigate. We know where we’ll be shopping for Christmas!
