Fab Finds Friday
Filed Under baby/kids apparel | Leave a Comment
It’s Friday already? Seems like I just wrote a Fab Finds Friday post. Maybe it’s because this blog is suffering from serious neglect. I promise to do better.
I’ve stumbled upon a couple of great sites with great products this week. The first is Fadiddle, which offers fun, distinctive fashions for babies and kids at reasonable prices. Their lovingly crafted screen-printed and embroidered t-shirts and onesies are custom designed and finished. As a hand-finished product, each item of kids’ clothing they sell is truly unique.
My second fabulous find is for us moms who love beautiful lingerie. I recently ordered several things from Vicki’s Drawers and was impressed from start to finish. The website has a sexy, romantic feel with all the retro pin-up photos. Vicki’s drawers offers high quality lingerie at reasonable prices. From naughty to nice, you will find lingerie to fit your personal style. They also have a large selection of plus size lingerie that features plus size models.I was extremely pleased with how well they communicated with me in regards to my order which shipped when they promised and arrived three days later. I also appreciated that their shipping charges were not inflated.
I’ll take the Drawers over the Secret.
Vicki wants to know who you will be tonight?Sep

We have found some really fab and unique finds for this week and are especially ga-ga over the cute dresses from the two ladies behind Bonnie & Evelyn. Their dresses are inspired by and named after their grandmothers. Each is made of vintage patterns or vintage inspired fabric. They can also make an heirloom dress made out of fabric and notions from your family pieces such as a hankie, tablecloth, or old skirt. So very sweet!
TruKid is a new, all natural skin care line made just for kids. Their line includes natural sunscreen, soaps, moisturizers, lip balm and a wonderful “Hero stick”. All their products are truly natural and chemical free and are wrapped with information to teach kids how to take care of their skin. They are currently running a special offer to receive a free Trukid Music CD with your first order of the Healthy Habits Pack.
Our next two fab finds are quite unique and fun. The first is tiny tees and other goodies with Braille from Bitty Braille. Their collection is custom handcrafted by the owner/designer. Bitty Braille tees feature simple “kid-friendly” words set in Braille type in either sparkly faceted metal studs for girls or simple metal studs for boys. The translation is hand-embroidered underneath in a simple print or cursive. They make great gifts for showers, birthdays or whenever a unique gift is needed. Bitty Braille also offers blankets, charms, and hair clips. Ten percent of every sale is donated to the American Foundation For The Blind.
Last but not least is a mouse from Mousenvy that will jazz up your computer. They don’t care if you are naughty or nice, crazy or conservative, geeky or sheek– they’ve got a mouse for you. They also make a great gift!

Who doesn’t love getting mail? I’m not just talking about email or comments on your blog but the stuff you get in your mailbox. Minus the bills.
I look forward to checking the mail every day. Between all the catalogs, stuff from Ebay, and People magazine on Friday, checking the mail is almost like Christmas morning. I know, that’s a bit of exaggeration. It is exciting though to open the mailbox and find a thoughtful card from a friend or a check from my insurance company because I overpaid. Talk about making my day!
Another fun thing I get on a regular basis is samples and coupons from Vocalpoint which is a marketing service I joined back in February 2006. The Vocalpoint website offers relevant, provocative information about products and services. It’s a site to influence and learn from moms like us. There are message boards for expressing yourself, surveys for sharing your thoughts, and focus groups to attend. The best part is the samples and coupons that will be sent to you on a regular basis. I recently received a sneak peek DVD of Meerkat Manor and buy one get one free coupons for Vanilla Coke. That’s the other nice thing about Viewpoint. They send extra coupons for you to share with friends and family.
Signing up is easy and no worries about spam. Only a minute of your time to get you started on receiving valuable coupons and samples. Who doesn’t like getting free stuff? Especially without any strings or an obligation to buy something.

While on the topic of gift giving, check out Gifts.com. They have caught on to the Push Presents trend. Push presents are the latest trend in gift giving. They are a token of appreciation and congratulations for the proud mother post-birth. I’m still waiting for my push present from hubby for our fourth baby. That was 21 months ago! I’d better send him to gifts.com.

Learn to read

I’m probably not the best person to review learning to read products since three of my four children have varying degrees of auditory processing issues. So for those of you who have children with learning disabilities this review is for you.
My family had the opportunity to review two of School Zone’s newest products aimed at Kindergartners. The first product was the Kindergarten Magnetic Tin which includes:
- 137 Letter, Number, and Shape Magnets
- Tin Activity Center
- 10 Dimensional Magnets
- 12 Activity Pages
- Parent Guide
Our kit was missing two of the plane magnets which was quite disappointing to my 5 year old son who loves planes. Otherwise the quality of the kit was excellent. If you have toddlers or puppies it is best to keep the tin under close supervision. My one year old was quite drawn to the little magnets with the colorful pictures and our puppy chewed up one of the puffy 3D magnets.
My son liked the tin the best. He has great difficulty with writing and getting him to write in an activity book has been a challenge. With the tin he could do activities similar to the those in his big sis’s activity books but without having to pick up a pencil. The magnets are also a great way for him to improve his finger dexterity. It did not hold his attention for long if I pulled it out at home but was a great distraction at restaurants while waiting for our food.
The second product we reviewed was the Start To Read Kit Level 1
This kit contains:- 2 Storybooks
- 2 Audio CDs
- 2 Journal Books
- 32 Comprehension Pages
- 3 Stencil Sheets
- 1 Pencil
- 2 Sticker Sheets
- 1 Dry Erase Pen
- 1 Eraser
This kit is too advanced for my son at this time. My seven year old daughter is the one who liked it the most. She loved the journals the best. She attends a Montessori school and they are big on journals. The journals have a page for the child to draw a picture and a page to write about the picture. She also loved using the kit to “play school”.
Playing the audio CD’s in the car worked out really well for all my kids. It was heartwarming to look in my rear view and see them following along with the storybook together. That was until they started fighting about who’s turn it was to turn a page.
Visit The Parent Bloggers Network if you would like to see more reviews of this product.
