A fun and educational DVD that won’t disappoint

My family has had the privilege to review the delightful DVD The Wheels On The Bus: Mango’s Dog Parade for PBN.
Mango’s Dog Parade is the third episode of The Wheel’s On The Bus series. This newest DVD is a multi-award winning animated film that also includes live characters and puppets with The Who’s Roger Daltrey as the voice of Argon the Dragon. The 33 minute DVD is age appropriate for children ages 2-4 which meant it was more than appropriate for my kids who are growing up on Sponge Bob. I wish Nick and Disney would air more shows like this. Not just my 2 year old enjoyed it but also my older three kids although they won’t admit it.
The songs are fun and entertaining. The only one that started to get on my nerves by the twentieth time I heard it was “The Wheels On The Bus”. Otherwise the other songs are quite catchy.
The DVD features eye popping animation, skits involving puppets and live people, and adorable costumed children dancing and singing. The visit to the zoo with with video of live animals and sea life was my toddler’s favorite part. There wasn’t anything she didn’t like with so many interesting puppets, fun songs, and adorable kids singing and dancing to keep her entertained.
Oh yeah, Mango’s Dog Parade is also educational. Teaching lessons about taking turns, not procrastinating, and eating healthy just to name a few. My only complaint is about the phrase “Just get over it” that is used in one of the songs. I try to not use this term because it comes across as invalidating someones feelings but I really have no business getting picky since this DVD is much more wholesome and educational than most of what my kids watch.
My favorite feature of the DVD was the option on the menu to play the movie over and over. If you have a toddler then you know that they like watching their favorite shows repeatedly. This option was also nice for me when I played the DVD in the car.
The DVD also includes bonus material such as a behind the scenes video that my older kids enjoyed much more than my toddler and a funny short movie about a misbehaving dog.
I give The Wheels On The Bus: Mango’s Dog Parade an A+ and that says a lot coming from me. After having four kids and surviving the Barney era I’ve become quite burnt out on kid shows with cheesy songs.~Kristie
