Going Green for April: Cool Bunk Bed Play Curtains
Going green is all the rage these days. More than just jumping on the lastest bandwagon, I am a big supporter and my husband and I are recycle fiends. We shop at thrift stores (gasp!), going to the recycle center every week is a family affair, and I would never throw away a magazine or a newspaper. I confess that I was not always so green- I just so happened to marry a boy from California, where recycling is a way of a life. So I am devoting April to fabulous “green” finds.
I love this eco-friendly company I recently stumbled upon. If Ikea is a favorite, you will love Flexa. FLEXA, founded in 1972 in Denmark, makes children’s bedroom furniture including beds, bunks, desks, armoires, drawers and fun textiles. All bed components are made from solid Nordic pine grown above the 60th parallel, in the northern Russian forests, a resource the company values and conserves. FLEXA’s commitment to green encompasses the production of every FLEXA product. From lacquer to fabrics, the company works hard to provide children with bedroom furniture that is all natural and toxin-free. For example, lacquer in traditional manufacturing is typically toxic. Not so with FLEXA beds. We use a special water-based UV lacquer to seal, protect and color the wood, there are no odors or particles that create pollution during production. Parents can be happy their children will not be sleeping next to chemicals.
They have all sorts of cool kids furniture and accessories. My son has a bunk bed and loves making a “cave” out of sheets. But the sheets are always slipping out and just not practical. I was so excited to see that Flexa actually has an innovative and fun solution: play curtains. Now your child’s bunk bed can become a favorite cozy hideout. The panels even have pockets to hold books, stuffed animals or a favorite blanket. I love that the panel has a door and window. How fun! Plus you will love the price- panels start at just $29.00![]()
