Hip Hop Hooray!
My kids are much more sophisticated than I would like them to be and I wish they were growing up on wholesome shows like Little House on the Prairie and The Walton’s like I did. I even bought the entire box set of “Little House” but my kids grew bored by the third episode. Despite my protest the youngest of my four kids is growing up the fastest. Sponge Bob was one of the first things she uttered and at two she prefers Hannah Montana songs over nursery rhymes. What I’ve learned from my other three kids is that I can’t slow down this rapid rate of growing up. My oldest is almost ten and I did my best to limit her exposure to pop culture but it managed to seep in wherever it could. This is why I am so pleased with shows like Hip Hop Harry.
Recently my family had the opportunity to review the Hip Hop Harry: Move Those Feet DVD for PBN and all four of my kids plus myself give it a thumbs up.
I love that Hip Hop Harry is a wholesome take on Hip Hop. My oldest is a dancer and hip hop is her favorite dance class so hip hop music blares in my house a bit more that I would like. Even my two year old has grown fond of this style of music so I was more than thrilled to welcome Hip Hop Harry into my home.
Hip Hop Harry: Move Those Feet is the perfect combination of learning and fun to appeal to both parents and kids. The fun, upbeat music had my kids and I up and moving. Even my know-it-all dancer dances along with the DVD and admitted to learning some new moves. The kids in the series may not be the best actors but have some major dance skills. One little girl in particular really impressed us with her amazing flexibility.
The DVD is divided into three episodes. The first episode is about sportsmanship, positive competition, and the importance of drinking water. My son was quite impressed upon with the drinking water message and has actually increased his water intake as a result. This was also our favorite episode because of the impressive dancing between the two dance teams.
The second episode is about exercise and learning new exercise moves along with rhyming words. My kids had no idea they were learning while exercising. They were just having a good time. I was thrilled to see them up and moving. Certainly makes me feel less guilty about entertaining them with television.
The DVD raps up with a third episode that teaches hip hop moves step by step.
Overall my kids and I were entertained with Hip Hop Harry. The kids in the series are very talented and Hip Hop Harry is a lovable teddy bear. I especially like that he does not talk in third person and is way less annoying than most children’s characters. No need to name names. Most parents know exactly what annoying characters I’m referring to!
The DVD also includes bonus features of Hip Hop Harry’s Memory Game and the Ready Set Learn video. You can visit www.hiphopharry.com to learn more.

Nice article. My son is a sponge bob fan also, and I am always trying to find wholesome shows that he will love.
