We love Leslie Patricelli board books

no.jpg

My kids love Leslie Patricelli books, especially my toddler and six year old. They both love the adorable illustrations and silliness of the baby and my six year old loves to read these easy-to-read board books. He reads them to his little sister which warms my heart every time.

Our love affair with Leslie Patricelli books began with Big Little and Quiet Loud. My kids were instantly captivated by the comically expressive baby that comes to life in colorful illustrations that are simple enough that they are not overstimulating.

Her two newest board books Baby Happy Baby Sad and No No Yes Yes are no exception.

Baby Happy Baby Sad gives a playful look to everyday emotions and No No Yes Yes gives fun visuals of cause and effect. My kids especially love the latter because they can relate to baby nose picking and playing in the toilet.

I also use these books as teachable moments as we talk about what the baby is doing and feeling. I also encourage them to talk about their own feelings and give examples.

What are some of your favorite board books?

  2. I love these board books too!! One of our favorites though is called Noisy Animals. My daughter got this book from her friend Charlie who lives in Australia. It has a dingo, tasmanian devil, kookaburra and also animals that we see every day here, like a duck. Except their duck has a blue bill!
