Our Holiday Picks for Family Friendly Nintendo Games
We finally joined the rest of the world and added a Wii game stystem to our household. I admit, I am enjoing it a bit more than I should and I have been known to fight with my kids over control of the remote. So I loved reviewing the latest releases from Nintendo.
Build a Bear Workshop: A Friend for All Seasons (also available for Nintendo DS)
A great beginner game for the younger set (recommended age is 6-12 years). Your furry friend is invited to a great party at the Castle Island by Bearemy and Pawlette. In order to cross the sea and reach the party, Bearemy and Pawlette offer you the Friend Ship. Explore new islands on the way and take time to meet and interact with the furry friends that live there. They love playing games too, so on each island you get to play mini games, help them out, and find the puzzle pieces needed to recreate the map that will lead you to the next island. Finally you reach the Castle Island where a big party awaits you! Choose, name and customise your very own furry friend at the start of the game. Then join it as it explores the islands, meets the inhabitants, helps its friends and has a blast in the process!
Rubik’s World (also available for Nintendo DS)
Remember Rubik’s Cube? If you were like the Lipstick to Crayons sisters, your early teenage years were spent endlessly wasting hours trying to put the cube back together. Once completed, we’d switch it all up again and start over. Hours of entertainment! So I was eager to see what Nintendo had to offer us former Rubik Cube addicts. Recommended for ages 6 and up, but more popular with the adults in our family.
Welcome to Rubik’s Puzzle World – an abstract environment populated by Cubies which make up the game’s DNA. Rubik’s Puzzle World takes the shape, functionality and concept behind the famous Rubik’s Cube but twists and turns the rules to transform it into a unique Puzzle filled game experience for players of all ages. Get ready for a collection of games infused with the mental challenges which made the original Rubik’s Cube such a hit!
I actually was not sent a review copy of this ( hint, hint), but I have almost bought it several times. It looks like a good pick, according to recent reviews I have read. If life were an endless vacation, what would you do? Go fishing, collect shells or watch fireworks with friends? Build a snowman, exchange presents with family or decorate your house for the holidays? Take a trip to the city, go on a shopping spree or visit friends from all over the globe? In Animal Crossing: City Folk, life moves at a relaxed pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities.
