Top Baby Names for 2008- My Very Unofficial List
In my spare time (HA!), I run a online baby boutique specializing in monogramming. I have come up with a top 10 list top baby names according to my monogramming requests.
In no particular order, here are the 10 girl names we monogram the most:
1. Ava (by far, the most popular!)
2. Ella
3. Hayden
4. Maddy, Maddie, Madelyn and other spellings
5. Kate, Katherine, Kaitlyn, Catherine
6. Kylie
7. Isabella, Izabella, Isabel, and nickname Bella
8. Emma
9. Addison, Addyson
10. Gracee, Gracie
**honorable mentions**
These are lesser known names gaining popularity
Emerson, Rylie, Reese, Julianna, Eliana, Alana
While I love all these adorable names, I do suggest coming up with fresher names if you wish to avoid the “Jennifer syndrome” of the 1970’s. I was always one of several “jennifer’s” in my class and I really disliked being known by my last name initial or as just one of the many “jennifer’s”. No chance of individuality when you have the most common name!
If you are looking for a unique name, but not off the wall- I do have a great suggestion. One of my absolutely favorite books is Freakonomics as I have always been interested in all aspects of sociology and why people do the things they do. If you also are intrigued by that, I highly recommend this book. The end chapter is about our chosen names and how they affect our lives an dhow others perceive us. They have a great list of names ranked according to favorable perceptions (and unfavorable perceptions).
