I'm Michelle Cox -- the owner of Lipstick to Crayons. I’m also a Mom to three kids (a teen, tween and toddler), a professional writer (www.michellemcox.com) and a blogger (www.fromthemom.com). And I love to save money (and help you do the same) via frugal deals and steals, coupons and other thrifty practices. My freelance writing business allows me to enjoy the great balance of being a stay-at-home/work-at-home mom, while also making time for blogging, running (ran the Chicago Marathon twice) some amateur photography and scrapbooking. I’m a St. Louis native, although I have lived outside of the city and the state. A few of my passions are amateur photography, scrapbooking and attending kids' sporting events.

Family Security Goes Digital. Online tool aimed to save lives by saving time.

Beginning today, protecting your loved ones just got easier.  Family InfoSAFE, the first-of-its-kind service, utilizes digital technology to assist law enforcement in the critical first hours of an emergency.

Family InfoSAFE is an online repository for crucial information that allows caregivers the power to play a more proactive role in family safety.  By going to www.familyinfosafe.com a subscriber can follow a few simple steps to create or update their account.  Once entered, the information is housed on secure server space and can be quickly accessed with a few clicks of their computer mouse.

The InfoSAFE approach was developed by caregivers for caregivers. Our team saw the need to access critical information quickly in the midst of an emergency. In researching ways to best protect families, we were surprised to see that people were being told to compile vital information and place it in a “lock box” in their home.  Our initial thought was, ‘what happens if the family member goes missing and they are 5, 50, 500 miles from home?’  We knew there had to be a better, faster way to get that information to the proper authorities.

The Family InfoSAFE model is being praised by numerous family safety organizations, including the American Humane Association.  ”This is a revolutionary idea,” said Marie Belew Wheatley, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Imagine the impact if first responders had instant access to critical information. What normally takes hours can now happen in seconds.”

The service has also been supported by more than a dozen other family safety and law enforcement organizations, including Cops Care. “In emergency situations time counts,” said Mike Murray, Executive Board member of Cops Care.  “Minutes can mean the difference between a positive outcome and a tragedy.”

Beyond providing a unique and effective family protection tool, Family InfoSAFE is also committed to helping organizations that promote family safety by donating a portion of each InfoSAFE sold.
