Working out with Mel B

mel2There’s yet another fitness video out on the market. When I saw it was from Mel B of The Spice Girls, I thought, “Oh God, another celebrity slapping their name on a crappy exercise video.”

Mel B, I owe you an apology. Your video “to-ally” kicked my bum.

I’ve been using workout videos since high school. (ie a very long time.) So I consider myself a pretty good judge of workout videos. And I’m always looking for new moves to work those hard to reach muscles. Mel B. does keep some of the more effective “classic” moves. But she also incorporates some new ones as well.

The sections are broken up so you can tailor the workout to your needs and time constraints. There are two cardio segments but also 10-minute segments on arms, legs, “tum” and “bum”.

I’ve been doing the workout twice a week. I have been sore for days after each time. Mel B makes it all look so easy. She’s in fabulous shape and she’s got the rockin’ body to show for it! At one point, while working out, my six-year-old son happened into the room. He started doing some of the moves too. But his favorite part of the video? “Watching her boobs!” Why didn’t that surprise me?

Mel B shows alot of energy and enthusiasm in her routines. And she gives direction pretty well. She gives you enough time to prepare for the next move and I found it easy to understand her explanations on how to do various moves. Besides, I love her accent. Especially when she says “to-ally fit!”

Plus, there’s also a nutrition segment on the dvd. So you can learn what she’s eating (or not eating).
