Digital Scrapbook Artist Review

feature photo

I’ve been playing with a fantastic scrapbooking software this past month that was sent to me for review from Serif. I have used other scrapbooking software over the years but none have impressed me like the Digital Scrapbook Artist.

What I like best about it is it goes beyond basic scrapbook software. Digital Scrapbook Artist offers everything you need to create a truly handcrafted look.

With the cutout studio I was able to cut up material to make my own scraps and scan in keepsakes such as concert tickets and cut them out.  I used the filter effects to create drop shadows, glows, and 3D lighting.

I have the most fun playing with the brushes to make realistic elements such as sand or the look of fabric being stitched together. The best part is that everything you need is in this software. No need to use another program to edit your photos. Oh yeah, did I mention that it has a built-in photo editing? Remove red eye, correct color, and apply special effects.

Brushes? Drop shadows? Are you feeling like a digital scrapbook novice? No worries Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist may have some advance techniques but is also user friendly for beginners. There is a scrapbook wizard to get you started in addition to an instruction book and I found lots of tutorials online.

You can add your photos and graphics from any source. Scanner, camera, CD, phone, or web, it takes them all. Then add backgrounds and elements by dragging and dropping from your workspace.

For the more advance scrapbooker you can use the brushes and punch/scissor tools to create whatever you want. You can easily lose yourself in this program for hours.

When finished you can export your project to several popular file formats, your printer, email, or upload to the Daisy Trail website to share with others.

The Daisy Trail website is also a great place to find out what all you can do with DSA by visiting the user forums. Additional themes can also be downloaded from there for free.

Digital Scrapbook Artist retails for $49.99 which is cheap compared to Photoshop. There is a bit of a learning curve at first but if you have any experience with Photoshop you will have no problems getting around DSA’s workspace.

I plan to share some of my creations with you once I’m finished.

  1. Okay — I just had to tell you. I’m so excited. And I love this review. I’m a huge scrapbooker — I have more than 30 Creative Memories 12×12 albums completed and recently started using books from Michaels and Archivers to save money.
