Honeywell Air Purifier Review & Giveaway
When Honeywell sent me their QuietClean Tower air purifier to review, my initial plan was to eventually pass it along to my parents or in-laws, both of whom have smokers in the house and who therefore have a greater need for an air purifier. Still, I wanted to experience the ease of setup and listen to it run for a few days (I strongly dislike background noise) before parting with it, so I planted it in my living room.
We don’t have smokers in the house, and we only have a small Yorkie who lives with us part-time. So while I don’t have a sense of smell (car accident), I always assumed my house doesn’t really “smell.” But within a few days of using the tower, my husband walked in after work and commented on the “improved smell” of our home. I thought it was all in his head until my teen and tween made similar comments about a week later.
We’ve now had the tower in our living room for more than a month, and I don’t think I want to part with it. It’s almost silent – you literally have to sit next to it in a quiet room to hear it. Setting it up was a breeze – take it out of the box and plug it into an outlet. (Even I can do that). But the proof is in my family-members’ sniffers – our house smells better.
This air purifier has lots of features I like, including the permanent, washable filter, which saves on expensive replacement filter costs. The permanent filter helps remove up to 99% of airborne particles such as smoke, dust, pollen, pet dander and mold spores. According to Honeywell, the filter from the QuietClean captures 18 times more pollutants than ionic air purifiers. This is due primarily to the fact that the QuietClean uses a fan to circulate the air throughout the room, forcing particles through a 3-step filtration system. The QuietClean air purifier circulates and filters the room air every 12 minutes.
Here are some other features I like about this product:
- Permanent filter that is easy to clean – simply rinse in water four times a year.
- Energy Star rating, using only the amount of power as a typical household light bulb.
- Cool, sleek design that easily fits into the corner of a room.
- Three-speed operation.
- Electronic filter check light to remind you to clean the filter.
You can purchase the QuietClean Tower for $169.99 on Amazon. But one lucky Lipstick to Crayons reader can get one for free by entering this contest.

I have 2 cats and 1 dog. And I think this air purifier would help as we approach our fall allergies.

We don’t have smokers or pets in the house, but I think my husband has the nose of a blood hound. He can always smell things in the house no one else can. Plus he has some slight allergies in spring and fall, this sounds like something we could definitely benefit from.
Great Give Away!!

I would love to win an air purifier! I had one of the ones that was found to create ozone and had to get rid of it. We use our a/c all summer and heat all winter and our windows aren’t opened often enough. An air purifier would give us an “air-after-the-rain” feel.
Thanks for a great giveaway!

Clean air. It is essential to life. My home is dusty…Road construction for 2 more years, 3 loving but shedding dogs, and 2 adults make for a lot more dust.
I would put the Honeywell QuietClean Tower in our bedroom where it is needed most to make sure that as we sleep, we get clean air to help us heal and revive for the new day.
Thank you for helping with our health.

I have a history of asthma since childhood and dust/dust mites is something I always contend with throughout the year. I also have two small Chihuahuas whom I have come to love dearly for their companionship and loyalty. However, they shed like crazy despite regular grooming. The Honeywell QuietClean Tower Air Purifier would make a real difference in the air quality in my home. My youngest son had to move back home due to health issues two years ago and just had a kidney/pancreas transplant in June. Because he will be on immunosuppressants the rest of his life to keep the organs from rejecting we now have added concerns of protecting him for airborne things like bacteria, mold spores etc.

I have 2 cats, and one of them has the smelliest urine! I’ve tried all sorts of litter from pine to crystals to clay, and I still get a whiff of urine when I walk in the house. I’d love to see if this filter would take care of that problem.

I would love the Honeywell Air Purifier because I have Asthma and the air purifier I have is very old and doesn’t work the best and is real noisy. I used to keep it in the living room but it was too noisy we couldn’t hear the TV without turning it way up so I moved it into the kitchen. The problem is I have a rug in the living room and that’s where I would get the better use of an air purifier. Thanks for Sharing this wonderful giveaway with your readers~!

#362 Douglas R. Cobb on September 1, 2009:
We have one dog, a small terrior, but she is not much of a problem as far as being smelly. My wife has one of those machines that squirt out something to freshen the air, though, in our livingroom.
She thinks it smells good; I think it stinks and is cloying. I’d much rather have an air purifier in the living room so I don’t have to breath in the air freshener stuff, which I don’t think is good to breath in, at all, really.

#420 John on September 5, 2009:
I need an air purifier with a washable filter to combat cigarette smoke. The purifiers I’ve tried so far collect smoke particles all right but then they keep circulating the odour which makes the smell FAR worse than no purifier at all. Having a washable filter would allow frequent cleanings so that the air would be cleaner AND fresher.
#421 Belinda M on September 5, 2009:
This would be awesome in my home. Two cats and a smoker!! It definitely improve the air quality in our place

We really need this because … well, as ashamed as I am to admit it, I’m a smoker. When I come in from outside, I can smell that the house smells like cigarette smoke, and I’m always burning oil and candles to help. But the main reason I need it is because I watch my grandchildren a lot, and even though I don’t smoke in the house when they are there, it worries me that even the leftover smoke might be doing some damage to them.

Everyone in my family has allergies, but we are such animal lovers that we suffer thru them. We have a dog, cat, and a smoker in the house. Not to mention that we live in a very rural area where the dust from the fields blow in all the time. This would be a godsend! Thanks for the chance!

I’ve also recently discovered I have a few allergies I wasn’t aware of, so it would be especially nice to win – thanks for the chance!

The reason I would love, love to win this wonderful Honeywell QuietClean Tower air purifier is for a few reasons. First, we live in a very old home on the lake and because of the climate living on the lake and the sometimes not so great smell of the lake, our home gets musty, moldy and I hate to admit it, but lake smelly. We have 3 young children and I do worry sometimes about the quality of the air they are breathing in our home. We use a dehumidifier but I am not sure how much that helps since it really only covers a portion of our home. I would love to prominently place this Honeywell QuietClean Tower air purifier in our family room where the family spends most of their time to insure that the air quality in there is okay. It will provide me with great peace of mind in knowing that we are doing more than we are right now to insure that the air our kids breathe is healthy! Another reason I would love to have this in our home is sometimes my husband smokes in the house. He has been “trying” to quit for over a year now, but has his good weeks and bad weeks. Without going into all the many stories I could tell, he is trying, but he is not trying hard enough. So, there is residual smoke smell in the air and I know this Honeywell QuietClean Tower air purifier would tremendously help in removing that! Thank you so much for the chance to enter.

#571 Betty on September 7, 2009:
Different members of the family have different allergy issues, but all benefit from the way these air cleaners work. I have 1 aircleaner and would love a second one that would help cover different areas of the house. This one is a great help to settle dust after stripping beds or vacuuming. its hard to explain how vacuuming can cause problems if someone is in the midst of a bad allergy season.
