DIY: Dresser turned rolling tool chest

I think almost everyone needs more storage space in their homes. So over at The Design File, I’m always looking to feature projects that provide storage in a stylish way.

DIY photos-1That’s why I love this DIY project from the great Craftynest blog.

Blogger Monica Ewing turned this old, beat up dresser into a stylish storage chest. It looks just like she walked out of a store with it.

Although Monica uses this piece for tools, think how great it would look as a side table in a kid’s room. Lots of storage for toys or clothes or art supplies and a great spot for an alarm clock and lamp.

The color is great. The hardware is fantastic. And the organization and storage space is enviable!
Want to learn more about how to make one yourself? Get all the details, including a supplies list and instructions, at Monica’s post here.

  1. Nice! This is a project hubby would love. Never enough tool storage for guys.

  2. You’re right. My husband has tools everywhere! But I was thinking I need something like this for my “tools” — gift bags, bows, tissue paper or for things like office supplies.

Check out the cool “tool” rack that Monica ended up using above this piece:

  3. This may be just the kind of thing I need for my kitchen. I never would have thought of stickign wheels on the bottom of an old dresser like that. I could roll it against the wall or back out to teh middle of the kitchen when I needed it, like an island. Cool.
