Design tip: Nesting tables offer flexibility
Freelance home decor writer Sally Falk Nancrede of Indianapolis had an interesting story in The Indianapolis Star on Sunday about the return of nesting tables as a staple in the living room.
“For years, huge ottoman coffee tables have dominated design, doubling as a place to sit, put up your feet or place a tray full of drinks and hors d’oeuvres to entertain,” Sally writes. “But now nesting tables are making a fresh style statement. They’re usually smaller, lighter in scale and more flexible than big-box cocktail tables that permanently anchor a room.”
She’s absolutely right about the trend. I’ve seen these gems everywhere and featured one from Areaware recently in a Sunday blog roundup post at The Design File.
But Sally’s story made me want to feature a few more options. I started looking in some of the places she suggested — Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Target and others — and then explored some of my favorite stores, including Inmod.
There were plenty to choose from, including these Collector’s Classics Mirrored Nesting Tables (above left) from Ethan Allen, which cost $799.
Below, you’ll find some of my other picks:
Top row, from left: Nesting tables from JCPenney, $129; Zuo Modern Shear Accent Tables in jazz stripe, $304, Walmart.com; Lucia Accent Tables, $450, Restoration Hardware
Bottom row, from left: Modular Wood Metal Coffee Table, $399, West Elm; Explorer Nesting Table, $265, Inmod; Taylor Living Room Table Set, $999, Inmod
