A vintage Christmas — decor from the mid-century

Capree Kimball tree detail with vintage ornamentsI recently made a new friend who is a nut for vintage design and got me thinking about adding yet another tree to my home to show off the few antique glass ornaments I own.

So I asked Baz at the Atomic Indy blog to see if some of his friends would share some mid-century Christmas inspiration that I could post at The Design File. I was so pleased with what I found, I thought I’d share them here too.

Their photos included some beautiful decorations — ornaments, centerpieces, trees and even some homemade garland.

Check out these gorgeous antique glass ornaments at right. These photos were provided by Capree Kimball who writes the cool My Capree Kimball tree from facebook and flickrAdventure is Your Advantage blog.

Capree’s tree (at right) is one the prettiest I’ve seen this season. I was so pleased she let me use the photo.

Capree Kimball mid-century centerpieceI love its tall, narrow and irregular shape along with the aqua color scheme and beaded garland. It’s really gorgeous.

She also had a very cool to centerpiece (at left) on her dining room table. It just screams mid-century style and is so sleek.

Beth Pesacov Avant snowflake garland-2But Capree wasn’t the only one with cool things to share.

Beth Pesacov Avant from the HipMamaB blog posted photos of some of her amazing DIY projects.

These fun “snowflake” dots (at left) are labels hung on fishing wire. Beth used white and silver so they sparkle in front of glass.

She also hung these paper doves above her fireplace. She found them at Paper Source. You punch them out, connect them and hang.

You can get more info about both of Beth’s projects here.

Maryanna Axson gave me permission to use this photo of her fun aluminum Christmas tree, complete with a color wheel (see it in the lower left of the Maryanna Axson vintage tree-1tree). I love her modern drapes and her mid-century ornaments.

Finally, Haley and Steve Lewis, who write about their mid-century remodeling adventures at Gresham Butte Rummer Fun!, posted some amazing photos of their tree.

They had so many lovely photos that I had trouble choosing one. But I eventually settled on the two below because they also show off Haley and Steve’s beautiful home.
