Christians and Pro-life Advocates CAN Advertise During the Superbowl
Apparently, not many people are bothered by all the beer commercials during the Superbowl. But don’t talk about God or be Pro Life.
According to a press release by Focus on the Family, an international Christian organization located in Colorado Springs and led by Dr. James Dobson, college football star Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam, will appear in a commercial paid for by the organization during the Superbowl. The mother and son will share a personal story centered on the theme “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.”
So what’s got the media buzzing and the feminists outraged? Apparently, Pam Tebow was overseas when she was pregnant with Tim and contracted a disease. She was advised to abort, but because of her faith, chose to carry the child to term. And look at what the world would have missed if she hadn’t done so — one of the most celebrated college football stars ever. So, will the story shared in the ad deliver anti-abortion messages? Not directly. According to CBS, the ad doesn’t encourage or discourage any action, it simply shares the story and allows the viewer to draw his/her own conclusion. CBS is, thus far, standing by the decision to run the ad. Wow. The First Amendment applies to conservative, Christian viewpoints, too. Whodathunkit?

Michelle- You are so right on. I am so thrilled that this is happening. Gods need us to show His truths, -not by hatefulness or accusations-but by example and love and showing how our strength in Him allows us to risk fame and fortune on earth for His cause and glory. I love football and sports and fun. But I love Jesus more than anything and, like all true Christians, I know that nothing in this world can take me from Him. As imperfect as I am-and believe me, I am imperfect-I was made whole and saved on the cross. God bless you. Pamela Walker

Thanks, Pamela. Let’s pray the powers that be at CBS don’t change their minds.

I am so pleased that CBS is airing this story. I have a dear friend who faced a similar situation when pregnant with her first child. Although it risked her health, she was adamant about going through with the pregancy against the advice of her doctors. Thank God she did! She raised a beautiful, intelligent and caring daughter, and was just recently blessed with her first grandson. What makes me so angry are the pro-choice groups that are trying to stop it. How hypocritical! They’re supposedly for a woman’s right to choose, but in actuality they’re anything but pro choice. Apparently with these groups the only choice is abortion. I will continue to pray that those associated with these groups will some day have a change of heart.

While we are all Ga Ga over Pam Tebow, we should also thank Eunice Durden for giving birth to another Heisman Trophy winner, O.J. Simpson. She made home-made braces for his rickets that he wore till age five. O.J. Simpson is currently serving his nine sentence at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock Nevada. Mothers are Great!
