A trend for summer: Bright wall paint
Vivid walls colors are one of this summer’s hot trends, according to HGTV. And so I went on a hunt for some spicy rooms to show you. here and over at The Design File.
How about this fun turquoise teen bedroom featured on BHG. The pink accents really set off the already bright wall colors.
I admire anyone willing to go a little crazy and paint a room a bright, bold color like this – although it’s completely appropriate in a teen’s room like this.
Actually, I think it’s appropriate anyplace you want to use a bright color – as long as you balance it out with some neutrals.
In the room at right, the bright colors are balanced out by the white furnishings.
White also balances the bright gold walls in the BHG room below.
This bright pink bathroom by designer Cindy Aplanalp is one of the rooms that HGTV used to illustrate its online feature about the hot colors trend. HGTV says Pratt & Lambert’s Fuchsia Bright would achieve a similar look.
This kitchen – featured in Cottage Living and available at MyHomeIdeas.com – has great gold walls but it’s the bright blue ceiling that I adore. This photo is by Roger Davies.
HGTV also featured photo by designer Shelly Riehl David, who used a pale avocado “to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere.” HGTV suggests Dutch Boy’s Marsh Green to achieve a similar look,” HGTV says.
Finally, I love the way Studio M combined these bright yellow walls with a turquoise bed and this incredibly colorful quilt to create an unforgettable room.
