Make a statement with { delicate tomboy }
Filed Under apparel, baby/kids apparel, fab baby boutiques, for mom | 1 Comment
I often wonder what babies are thinking or what they would say if they could talk. I’m obviously not alone in my thinking because letting infants and toddlers use their clothing to convey their thoughts is all the rage nowadays. Edgy, whimsical, political- anything goes.

{ delicate tomboy }
has a line of hand-dyed cotton tees and onesies (up to 18 months) that can let your rugrat make their statement. It’s hard to refuse their demands with adorable tees that read “Hug Me”, “Real Men Wear Pink”, or “Global Warming, It’s Not Cool”, just to name a few.
I know, you are feeling left out on the statement making tees. No worries, { delicate tomboy } has you covered. Literally. Show some attitude with their line of “never date a guy who” lessons on a hip and comfy tee.All { delicate tomboy } garments are 100% cotton and hand-dyed for a custom, unique look. In keeping with the uniqueness { delicate tomboy } is known for, they also offer custom and personalized designs, which make perfect gifts!
Our favorite thing about { delicate tomboy } is their philanthropy. They donate all of the proceeds from the sales of their special dog graphics infant line to Pet Rescue, Inc., a nonprofit, no-kill pet shelter and rescue group based in Miami.
Whether you have a little one who has a message for the world or you want to share your dating advice, { delicate tomboy } knows how to get your message across in a hip and stylish way.

Jellybean Apparel~Unique Maternity Wear
Filed Under apparel, etsy, for dad, for mom, guest bloggers, maternity, maternity | Leave a Comment
The last thing a pregnant woman wants to give up is their sense of style as the baby belly grows. As many can tell, I am a woman that loves to be an individual-not one to just go with the “typical”. Pregnancy is a time to enjoy and of course, the original clothing is something to make it fun.
Jellybean Apparel has helped keep maternity clothes fun and original. A husband and wife team based out of Royal Oak, Michigan, Nicky and Derek create unique designs not only for Mommy but the whole family. “Unique Maternity-Wear for The Entire Family” You can find some very cute and unique styles for all members of the family-including Grandma and Grandpa.
I fell in love with Jellybean Apparel from the moment I found their Etsy website and adore the designs. They truly are one of a kind and they are all guaranteed. A special note you will find throughout the website is, “Our shirts are true MATERNITY shirts, cut longer and more full in the front. Our designs are adhered using dry-ink thermal-application. They are not iron-ons, and will not crack or fade. We recommend you machine wash cold, and tumble dry on low. Each shirt is made to order.” They have of course MANY styles and design to choose from but if you have something else in mind, they are beyond willing to do a Custome design especially for you!
Right now, I have on the Priceless Design and I LOVE IT! The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable. And just like the model here, the design falls perfectly on my “Priceless” baby bump. (Don’t worry, you’ll get to see me in my beautiful shirt as soon as I get my hair done!)And for your chance to win your very own JellyBean Apparel design, head over to For the Love of Baby!

Filed Under accessories, apparel, contest/giveaway | 621 Comments
Say the word Hanes and what do you think? Hanes products….all the important basics…underwear…tees…etc. I must say how pleasantly surprised I was to receive an assortment of kid clothing and accessories from Hanes. Who knew? My 5 year old and almost 3 year old happily “tested” out the various products- graphic tee shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, scooter skirt (yes, they make really hip and stylish kids garments!), boxer shorts, and a very innovative cool polo shirt. My first thoughts were how well made the products were- fine quality cotton, super soft to the touch and all stood up to outdoor playing and repeat washings. My daughter the comfort band fit of her “fairies” underwear and my son loved the thick and soft zip up jacket- perfect for the chilly mornings common here in Northern California. I was really impressed with the Hanes® StayClean® Cotton-Blend Kids’ Polo Shirt. Features include:- Cool cotton-blend jersey looks and feels soft and smooth.
- Details add durability: clean-finished placket with two wood-tone buttons; two-needle topstitched hem.
- Built-in protection resists spills, releases stains, so shirt stays new-looking longer.
- Ribbed cuffs and welt collar keep their shape wash after wash (thanks to knit-in spandex).
Great for school uniforms and you will love the price- 2 for only $15. You will be hard pressed to find any item over $10. Hanes for Kids is ideal for the busy, cost conscious mom- affordable quality gear for your kids. What more could a mom ask for? Well actually- how about a $50 gift certificate to spend at Hanes.com. Vincent Shoes review
Filed Under apparel, shoes | 2 Comments
I admit it. I’m a shoe snob. Not so much about my own shoes although I do own a pair of Jimmy Choos that I covet but about my kids shoes. I love Target knock-offs but when it comes to shoes I’ve learned that it’s best to go with the best. Their shoes don’t hold up that well and the three pairs of Target tennies I bought last fall for one child cost me more than one pair of good shoes.
This is why I love Vincent shoes. They are a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Not only are they durable but also very adorable.
Vincent Shoes came to fruition when a Swede and his partner couldn’t find a suitable shoe to gift his nephew, Vincent. They started designing their own shoes and within a year they opened a store in Stockholm. Nearly ten years later they are still designing fun, fashionable, and functional children’s shoes. I have bought several pairs of European shoes for my kids over the years and I have always been impressed by their quality and durability.
Recently I received two pairs of Vincent Shoes to review. The Rolf style in pink for my eight year old daughter …
andanddddddddddddddddddddd
and Orvar in blue for my two year old daughter. They both LOVE their Vincent Shoes.I asked my eight year old to share what she loves best about her Rolf shoes. She very enthusiastically replied that she loves the colors, especially the pink and that all her friends want a pair just like them. She loves that they are easy to put on and take off because of the stretchy elastic on the sides. She also loves how the bumps on the bottom keep her from slipping and she most definitely runs faster when she’s wearing them.
She could sell shoes!
My two year old is too young to tell me how much she loves her Orvar smiley face shoes but her wearing them to bed the first week is a pretty good indicator that she likes them a lot. I love them too! I’ve always been a big fan of Swedish clogs not only because I like the look of them but also because of how easy a toddler can put them on and off. If you are a mom of a toddler you know that toddlers like to put shoes on “all by myself”.
The Orvar clog boasts:
- All-leather upper
- Real-wood platform with thin rubber sole for traction
- Decorative silver rivets for a retro look
The smiley face is quite charming and she received compliments on them everywhere we went. It’s hard to be in a bad mood with such happy looking shoes.
Both pairs of shoes have been worn daily since we received them a month ago and they both still look new. The Orvar clog cleans up easily with a damp cloth and I washed the Rolf pair in the washer after an accidental step in a mud puddle. You would have thought she had hurt herself with how my eight year old overreacted about her muddy shoe. Thankfully they came out of the washer looking new again. Machine washing is not recommended but luckily the shoes and I survived the mud puddle ordeal.
Vincent Shoes are in European sizes but their shoe fitter guide, an intuitive and innovative online shoe sizing system acts as almost a personal shoe fitter so you can feel confidant in your shoe size selection.
All Lipstick to Crayons readers can take advantage of 20% OFF coupon code “SPRING-DEAL-8″ that is “valid for all full-price item purchases at www.VincentShoeStore.us through April 30, 2008 and free shipping for orders over $75.

Crafty Fingers Get Busy
Filed Under baby/kids apparel, for baby, gifts | 1 Comment
I confess….. I received a grade D in home ec. class. We had to sew a very simple top and I could not even thread the needle properly or find the bobbin. I was hopeless. So all this time, I thought of myself as the Un-Martha Stewart. Having a baby boutique and seeing all the cute products inspired me to begin doing my own thing. Not to mention, I discovered the mark up on things like hair bows is like 500%!! So it began with a simple hair clip, then tutus, etc… I discovered I am much more crafty than I ever thought possible and I am enjoying it. So now I have turned my creativity to creating some new designs to display in my store. I started by designing a unique one of a kind birthday dress (and then happily handed it over to my seamstress to put together). I know my limitations- you would not want your child in anything I sewed! My latest designs are these fun capri pants for spring. I am a total fabric nut and love all the great designer pieces available now. I used trendy Amy Butler fabric to make these ruffled pants. Pair with one of our big initial monogram tees. I also have 10 new birthday dresses for spring summer using the latest designer fabrics . Look for my new line March 15th. Right now, we are having a 10% off sale. Use coupon code SAVE10 and receive 10% off your entire order!Feb

Birthday attire is all the rage nowadays. Ten years ago when my oldest was celebrating her first birthday I had to pay a seamstress to make my daughter a personalized birthday outfit. Fortunately now there are plenty of boutiques ready to outfit your birthday child on their special day.
Liliputians NYC offers clothing that has a superior, true boutique, heirloom quality rarely seen today. If you are looking for a unique birthday outfit then Liliputians is the place for you. They offer beautiful handcrafted tops, bottoms, and dresses made of vintage fabric and appliques. Whether you are shopping for a boy or girl they are sure to have just the outfit you were looking for.Kangaroodle offers great birthday apparel but our favorite pick is the birthday bib. Choose
from white with pink trim or pink with hot pink trim. While you are there check out theirlarge selection of monogram birthday dresses and overalls.
If you are looking for something a little more old fashioned then Tamara’s Creations is the place for you. All outfits are custom made per your child’s measurements and personalized with your child’s name.
Our favorite place to shop for birthday apparel is Avannabel Baby which offers a large selection of birthday outfits and accessories. You will find a large selection of classic monogrammed dresses, personalized birthday hats, rhinestone birthday tees, and birthday tutu sets.Jan

What do I want for the new year? Pants that Fit!
Filed Under apparel, for mom | 3 Comments

Today at my son’s preschool, I looked around and really studied the other mother’s around me. Of course I wondered what their respective “stories” were (I am innately curious about other people lives and how they make them work), if they enjoyed being at home with their kids, if they found motherhood to be fulfilling, etc. What I really noticed today was how all the moms were dressed and how in turn they carried themselves. Most were in jeans and sweatshirts, hair back in a ponytail, face devoid of any makeup. “I will never be like that”, I smugly thought to myself. But then I looked down- I was wearing jeans and a fleece top, hair in ponytail, no trace of makeup. How did this happen? Where did the stylish and hip mom go? I thought about it all day- why this had happened. One mom came sauntering down the hall in her Seven jeans, trendy black boots (with a heel!) and hair styled. She walked with an air of confidence, not snobby, just comfortable in her skin. I envied her- she made taking care of herself a priority and I think that is fabulous! The moms in sweats slumped against the walls waiting for their kids. It is so hard when you are a mom caring for kids all day to think about your own needs. I can barely get my 2 kids ready on time for school and usually my own needs come way last.
What is my point? I finally figured out that a huge reason I do not dress more stylish is my clothes simply do not fit right. I lost all my pregnancy weight from baby #2, but my body is vastly different. I now know (rather intimately) what “muffin top” is. None of my dressy pants fit and if they do, I have to wear a loose top to cover my *ahem* excess. So I was super excited to find this site- Lucy and Lily (not to be confused with Lilly & Lucy in my previous post). They offer your own personalized fit pants! How does it work? According to their website:
“Lucy & Lily is a new San Francisco-based company that makes it fun & easy to get pants made to fit you. We have developed our own technology so that you can create your own personalized size.
To begin, simply order an L&L Initial Fit™ style. We send along our unique Fit Kit™ with your order. Follow the simple instructions to create your personalized size - your Alter.dot™. You can reorder with your choice of fabric & details, knowing that they are in a size made just for you!”
You simply choose your body type (I fit the “marilyn” to a tee) after reading the descriptions and your usual size. After receiving your new pants, you will then have the opportunity to create your next pair of perfect fit slacks. They offer several different slack styles as well as lengths. Absolutely brilliant! Now if my body in those slacks can look like the above photo, I am completely sold! This mommy is ready to get her groove back- are you?

The Succulent Wife certainly lives up to its name. They offer so many fun and unique products but our favorite is their sexy retro aprons. They are the June Cleaver meets Pamela Anderson kind of apron. Many of them are one-of-a-kind pieces made of vintage fabrics and embellishments. Spice up your next meal and your marriage by cooking dinner in one of these aprons (and nothing else).
We love the old fashion styles and trends for kids that can be found at Bebe Babble. They carry the most adorable pinafore and we think the Esther Coat is to die for. You will also find a great selection of unique toys, clothes, and accessories. Bebe Babble is currently running a sale on their Ismodern and Kico clothing. We are suckers for all things personalized or monogrammed so no surprise that we fell in love with this personalized flower dress. An exquisitely detailed dress of garden flowers and the child’s name on the chest. It is available in short or long sleeves. The best part is it will be beautifully gift wrapped and tied up with a thick grosgrain bow. This dress can be found at Posh Tots for $48.

It’s no secret that the Lipstick to Crayons sisters love them some chocolate. And the darker, the better! Ferrero Rocher has always been a favorite of ours but now there is something for all us dark chocolate lovers. Ferrero Rondnoir is a unique combination of a dark chocolate cream surrounding a “black pearl” of fine dark chocolate within a delicate, crisp wafer and topped with crunchy dark chocolate morsels. A dark chocolate lovers dream. Need we say more?**********************************************
