The Coolest Photo Scanner!!

This week, Pandigital announced the Pandigital Personal Photo Scanner/Converter — a new portable photo scanner that can scan print photos up to 8½ x 11-inches large. I received one for review and I’ve been playing with it all evening and it is so VERY COOL and easy to use and portable and fun and . . .

The new photo scanner requires no PC to convert print photos into digital images. Users simply press a single button to scan photos as small as wallet-sized up to 8 ½ x 11, and the device is not a whole lot bigger than large tube of tooth paste, so I plan to keep it packed in my laptop bag.

This fun gadget was literally “plug and play.” I took it out of the box, inserted the small memory SD card that came with it into the back, plugged it in, and began scanning photos from my kids’ baby books. Then, I used the USB cord and plugged it into my laptop, and transferred the photos onto my computer. But, if you want, you can insert the SD card loaded with full-color JPEG images into your computer to upload the photos to your favorite photo site like Snapfish, or take the SD card to a Walgreens or CVS and have your photos printed directly from it — no PC or laptop required. You also can insert the card into a Pandigital digital photo frame to immediately view the images. (I wrote about my Pandigital photo frame here).

The best part about this Pandigital scanner is that it’s so FAST. My printer acts as a scanner, but it’s really slow. First, you scan the photo . . .slowly. Yawn. Then it’s converted into a JPEG image on the computer . . yawn, then I find it . . . yawn. It’s a process. I scanned about 50 photos in about 20 minutes with this dealy. I’m going crazy. First, I’m scanning all the photos from the childhood of my oldest kids. Then, I’m going to scan my photos from my early marriage, and then move my way backward to college, then high school. Facebook, look out!! I’m armed with an easy to use scanner. Here are some of my scans from this evening:

I haven’t gotten around to sharing my recent success (AMEN!) in potty training my toddler, but I will. There are a few funny stories to go along with it. But suffice it to say that we’re still very focused on the topic. I wasn’t paying attention and today my toddler brought her favorite book into a restaurant with her. The waiter said, “Great dinner time reading, eh?”

Adorable rooms for adorable little girls

When I previewed the Indianapolis Meridian-Kessler Home & Garden Tour at The Design File last month, I only offered a peek at the sweet little girls’ rooms in the home owned by Jessica & Matt Albaugh. There were just so many beautiful rooms to see in this home and so I saved most of the photos of the kids’ rooms for a post today.

The Albaughs have two girls: 3-year-old Ellen and 1-year-old Kate.

Kate’s room (above and below) has beautiful, pale lavender walls with accents of darker purples, white and black, including the fantastic zebra-print rug shown below. I love this sophisticated but unexpected touch in a nursery!

I love the antique, painted wardrobe (shown below), which Jessica had in her room as a little girl. Not only does it provide fantastic storage, but the history makes it very special. Jessica made the terrific window treatments – in this room and in sister Ellen’s room as well.

She’s personalized both rooms with the girls’ names, using letters she found at clearance prices. I love that these are hung with ribbon.

There are also lots of other cute touches. Jessica made the memo board below using fabric she found on Etsy.

Sister Ellen has a pink and white room with an amazing cabinet wall that the Albaughs had custom built to make up for the room’s tiny closet. (I had a terrible time getting the color right on these photos…so I apologize. The cabinets were an off white.)

I love the fun window seat and handmade window treatments.

Ellen had butterflies flying above her bed, along with a couple sconces.

Jessica made a memo board for Ellen as well and and hung the family photos using ribbon.

Aren’t these rooms just full of inspiration? I love them. A special thanks to Jessica for the tour of her home and showing me the girls’ rooms.
